November 9. Anniversary Day. The weather was not altogether favourable. but people managed to enjoy themselves-' Included in the festivities was the opening of the bowling season. The new president. Mr. Watson, mad'- a * tillable speech, and Mrs. Watson threw the jack and declared the season Open. A great many ladies were present, and afternoon tea was provided. Sunday ' school. Blenheim, with their friend* and teachers, arrived by train at 5«.30, and proceeded to Toren by the s.«. Waitohi and motor launches. The rain, which came on during the day. rather spoilt the outing, but everybody enjoyed themselves. Progressive Euchre. Dr. and Mr*. Itedinau gave a second evening on Thursday tor euchre. The room* and supper in the verandah were decorated with roses and red may. Chinese lanterns, etc. Mrs. Smith won the first ladies' prize. Miss Hamman the second, and Miss Bake well the booby. Mr. Admore won the first men’s prize. Mr. Vickers .the second, and Captain Burgess the booby Those present were: Dr. and Mrs. Redman. Mr. and Mrs. A'inkers, Mr. and Mrs. Stocker, Rev. T. Philpotts in Pieton. Mrs. Madsen, with her two children, has gone on a month’s visit to Featherston. Miss Urquhart- (Blenheim) has been spending a few days with Dr. and Mrs. Redman.
