November 9th. Concert at Gonvllle. There was a very- successful concert at Gonville, in the Town Hall, in aid of funds for the new' church there. The programme included two amusing plays: "A Burglar Under the Bed" and "Box ami Cox.” Amongst those present were: Rev. IL Reeve and Mrs. Reeve, Rev. C. Harvey, Airs, and Aliss Asherofl. The Wanganui Tennis Club opened their season on Saturday afternoon. There were a very large muster present. Brettargh, navy blue serge eoat and skirt, blaek hat with large pink velvet flowers; Miss N. Nixon, Paisley muslin frock. large blaek velvet hat with wreath of tiny pink roses; Miss L. Jones, smart navy blue serge coat and skirt, eream vest, straw hat with pink flowers; Miss Spenser wore a navy blue serge coat and skirt, smart straw hat with the upturned brim lined with blaek velvet, cherry roses; Miss Ashcroft, grey striped tweed coat and skirt, with touch of blaek on it, puttystraw hat with bunch of violets at the side; Mrs. A. Izard, navy blue serge coat and skirt, cream blouse, white felt hat lined with black; Miss Ida Stevenson, grey tweed eoat and skirt, becoming black tagel hat, lined with white, and big white ruehe on it; Miss Kerr, white linen frock, large burnt straw hat covered with black lace. At the Theatre.

The Plimmer-Denniston Company had a very successful two-nights’ season in the Opera House; there were large and appreciative audiences. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Wall, Miss Montgomery Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie, Mrs. A. Wilson, Mrs. Kennedy (Wellington), Mr. and . ?
