October 5. Subscription Dance. On Friday the rain came down in torIrehts, which much affected the attendance at the subscription dance at the Foresters’ Hall, The committee, though small in numbers, were untiring in their efforts to make the dance a success, and included Misses James (2), AVake (2), Bayley, Curtis, Anderson. Farewell Social. On Thursday evening the parishioners of Holy Tri nils Church tendered to Mr E. W. Lewis a farewell social and presented him with a purse of sovereigns prior to his departure for Auckland. Mr Lewis’s intention is to enter St. John’s College as a theological student. Senior Cadets. A meeting of ladies was held on Thursday in connection with Mrs Godley’s scheme for providing prizes for senior cadets.
