September 21. A Small Dance. A small dance was given by Mrs T. Maude at her residence in Holly-road on Thursday evening. Mrs Maude was wearing a pretty gown of white satin veiled with lace; Miss Maude, pale pink crepe de chine; Miss I*. Maude, pale blue silk. The ginsls included: Miss T. A juvenile dance was given on Wednesday evening by Mrs Millton at Gar-den-road, Fendalton, in honour of her son Eric. The juvenile guests were: Misses Kitty Lane, Nan Rich, Mona Pyne. Ella Helmore, Kathleen Wilson, Al. Beadel, Dorothy Cowlishaw, Beckett Harley, and Pinkney, Masters Thompson. Blunt, Harley, Helmore (2), Beadel. Goldingham, Turner, Ross, and Reeves. The grown-ups present were: Mrs George Helmore. Airs A. Reeves, Airs Ross. Mrs Pinkney, Miss Hanley, and Aliss Cowlishaw. The Horticultural Society will hold a Daffodil Show next Wednesday. Personal. Mrs Colquhoun (Dunedin) is the guest of Mrs Denniston, Rolleston-avenue, Christchurch. Aliss Howell (Tiniaru) has been staying with Aliss Rollestan, Park-terrace. Air and Airs A. K. G. Rhodes and family have returned to Christchurch from England. Aliss Gresson (Christchurch) has been spending the school vacation in Wanganui. Air and Mrs Gerald Stead (Brackenfield) left Christchurch yesterday (Thursday) for Wellington. Aliss Keddell (Oamaru) is staying with Dr. and Airs Scott, C-hristchurcli Hospital. Mrs Henry Wood (Avonsidei has returned from “Tcpapa,” where she was the guest of Mrs Acton-Adams. The Misses Grigg ( Ixmgbeach) have returned from a visit to England.

Lady Clifford and the Aliases Clifford left Christchurch for Sydney last week. Airs Bowden (Christchurch) has returned from Geraldine.

Airs Wilder (Hawke’s Bay) has been staying with Airs Wigram, Park-terrace.

Aliss Pyne left Christchurch for Dun edin on Saturday.
