POVERTY BAY.
The Poverty Bay golf championship tournament was commenced last week, when the first round was played. The results were as follows:—G. M. Dodgshun beat W. Gibson, 6 up and 4 to play;; P. IT. Hamilton beat W. R. Barker, 2 up and 1; J. Howie beat R. V. Burke, 3 up and 2; A. Paku beat H. Simson, 4 up and 3; W. H. Irvine, beat E. Adair, 2 up; E. M. Hutchinson beat F. IT. W. Trail. 1 up: N. Bull beat J. H. Bull, 3 up and 2; P. Keiha beat G. W. Willoek, 2 up.
The results of the junior championship were as follows:—B. C. Jeffreys beat A. R. Watson: W. A. O’Meara beat Balfour; A. D. Murray beat Thorne George; I. B. Smith beat Moore; H. Bennett beat de Lautour; Spillsbury beat Grant; W. B. Willoek beat C. Morgan; F. W. Solan beat P. O'Meara; Brewster beat A. L. Muir.
