August 3. Shakespeare Club. A successful reading of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," by the Shakespearean Club, was given on Friday last. The following was the cast of characters: — Theseus, Mr. D. Amongst those present last week were: Mesdames Dods, Stewart. Traill. George. Scott, Buscke, Misses De Lautour (.2), Evans, MeCredie, and Rees. On the Links. At golf on Saturday a dainty tea was provided by Miss Faulkner and Mesdames Waehsmann and Seott. Among*" those present were: Mesdarnes Morgan, O’Meara, Adair, Bourke, Trail, Misses De Lautour (2), Murray, McLaurin, Ree*, Lusk, Nolan (2), Faulkner (2), and Bennett, Messrs. W. G. Personal. Mrs. J. R. Kirk returned from her visit to Wellington on Saturday. Mies Allen has returned from her holiday. Miss Ursula Williams is the guest of Mrs. J. W. Nolan. Otipi. Mr. and Mrs. R. V* Gully have gone South, and are visiting Mrs. H. V. Gully, The Port, Nelson. The Misses Busby are visiting Rotorua. Invitations are out for the Hunt Club Ball, on August 21st. Miss P. Lusk is on a visit to Gisborne. Mi'S Etta Nolan is La k from an enjoyable holiday. Dr. and Mrs. Truby King (Dunedin) were the guests of Dr. and Mr'. Reeve last week. During his visit here Dr. Truby King gave two very interesting lectures.
