STRATFORD.

July 13. The fnglewood golf team (ladies) were unable to come down on Saturday and play the arranged match, for weather reasons. A team from Ilawera braved the elements on Tuesday, and played a match on the local links., and were defeated by five game* to three. For the Medal Competition (ladies). Miss Flossie Orbell was the best score. In the men’s competition, Mr. Vaughan was the winner. What should have been a very jolly afternoon —had weather permitted—-wa-s given by Mrs. Young on the links on Wednesday. A “stroke” match was played, and won by Miss Freda W’ake, Aliss Orbell second, and Mrs. Grant third- A delicious- tea and dainty .prizes compensated for the drenched conditions of the golfers when they reached home. Others competing were: Mesdames Grant, Glasgow’. Robinson, Uniaeke. Hogg, Budd, Richards, Misses Orbell, O’Brien, Fussell, and W'ake.
