July 13. Recital. On Friday evening Mrs. Ernest Parkes gave a very successful vocal ami instrumental recital. Miss May Donaldson, violinist, wore a beautiful cream satin gown with bands of gold embroidery on the skirt and corsage; Miss Ada Donaldson, pianist, cream channelise frock with chiffon, and band of black velvet, in her coiffure: Mis* Siglid Bowen, contralto, white silk gown with frills o'l her skirt and live edging her corsage; Mrs. Wray wore a beautiful cream satin gown with deep maize-shaded opera coat, black feather boa, and gold coronet in her coiffure: Mrs. Wil ford, black velvet robe with chiffon and lace; Miss Wi'ford, black charmeuse frock with ninon and pale ‘blue opera coat; Mrs. R. Dunn, cream silk and smart cream opera coat; Mrs. Wall, pale grey silk with ninon and dove grey opera coat; Mrs. Gonville Saunders, cream satin fruvk with net overdress, stylish black satin opera coat lined with save blue satin; Miss Hawken, pale pink silk with ninon on her corsage and spray of Howers, pink opera coat; Miss E. Unfortunately the weather was showery, and the entrances not as large as last year. Play was started early in the mornings, and lunch each day provided by the Naumai Tea booms in the men’s clubroom. Miss Dorothy Christie Is the guest of Mrs. Arkwright. ’in Rangitikei. Miss Wheeler, of Haleombe. who has been staying in Wanganui with friends, has returned to her home.
