One of the events in the social life of Hamilton is always the Bachelor's Bail Last Friday night’s function was no ex« ception to the rule, when a very large number of guests availed themselves of the bachelors’ invitation. The Town Hall was most gracefully decorated with scarlet and white festoons of muslin, combine,) with tree ferns, bamboo, and scarlet and white camellias. The front of the stage, utilised as the matron’s drawingroom, was banked with pot plants, shrubs, ami scarlet salvia. The supper table was beautifully decorated by Airs Tom Jolly, in yellow and white daffodils and narcissi, the whole supper room being a bower of greenery. One cannot speak too highly of the kind con-, sideration shown in every- wav by the bachelors, who vied with each other in the attentions shown to their guests, both old and young. Airs Brewis kindly fulfilled the duties of hostess, in which position she is always a favourite, the Al.C.'s, Messrs Shand and .Jordan, ably assisting her. The committee consisted of Alessrs (’. F.
