August 17. At the Theatre. The theatre was crowded on Saturday night, to witness “Jack and the Beanstalk.” the dress circle having been extended almost to the rear of the first floor. It would be impossible to describe all the lovely cloaks and gowns worn by the ladies. Among the audience I noticed Mr and Airs Nelson. Mr and Airs McKenzie, Air and Airs Tanner, Airs Tanner, sen., Air and Aliss Tanner, Dr. and Airs Tosswill, Airs Nairn, Airs Alacdonell. However, last week we blossomed out am! held a small fancy dress carnival in the supper room of the Drill Hall. Some of those present were: Mesdames McKibbin. Reid, Kiely, Tanner, Cameron. Broeklehurst, Lewis, Smith. Lanauze. Humphries, Faulkner, Lewis, Alisses Seale, Alason (2). Smith, Lanauze, Hodge, Ward. Wither*, Barcroft, Turman. Wilson, Lusk. Messrs Ala it la ml. Mackersry, Circuit t, Tosswill, Jyanauze, Tanner, Jones. Personal. Aliss Withers (Sydney) is paying a round of visits in Hawke’s Bay. Air W. J. Stratton is much improved in health. Miss Take, who has been visiting friends in Hastings, returned to Napier on Friday. Air and Airs Hugh Campbell have returned from Christchurch. Mr G.. Airs, and Aliss Sunderland are leaving shortly for England. Mr and Airs Ilassal have returned from Christchurch.
