HAMILTON.

July 22. Girls’ Guild. On Friday last the Girls’ Guild, in connection with St. Peter's Church, held a sale of work in the schoolroom. Various pretty articles were temptingly arranged on the girls’ stall, presided overby Mrs. Hume (joint president with Miss Newell of the guild), assisted by relays of the girl members, and good business was done. The sweet stall was prettily draped in red and white, and decorated with red poppies, and was in charge of Mrs. C. Holloway, with several assistants. Here home-made confectionary was the . chief feature, the delicious toffees, French sweets, and creams being eagerly sought after. An interesting stall was that of the Ladies’ 'Working Guild, where much artistic needlework could be obtained, as well as plainer and more useful articles. This was chiefly in charge of the Mesdames V alder and Spain. Last, but not least, the refreshment stall, was in charge of Miss Newell, who with her band of willing helpers all in white caps and aprons, served what one so seldom gets at public affairs, really enjoyable afternoon tea. A few of those present were: Mrs. Cowie, in black; Mrs. Brewis, in cloth costume, blaek velvet hat; Mrs. Bayly, black, with black toque; Mrs. Gillies, navy costume, with blaek braidings, blaek hat; Mrs. Warren, grey, blue and black toque; Mrs. Tompkins, black; Mrs. Madill, cloth tailor-made; Mrs. Graham, dark grey costume, purple hat; Mrs. iSwarbriek, black; Misses Lorie; Mrs. Greenslade; Mrs. Mears, navy; Mrs. Furze, black; Mrs. Stevens, brown. Skating.
