Tennis. The Pukekohe Park Lawn Tennis and (•roquet Club held their opening day last Tuesday, the formal ceremony being performed by the Mayor (Mr. Fisch). Other •speeches were made by Mr. 11. Okey M.P., and Dr. Hatham (president of the New Plymouth Club). Tea was served by •members of the ladies* committee. Tribe, pale blue muslin, cream lace yoke, black hat with feathers; Mrs. Tribe, pretty heliotrope coat and skirt, cream batwreathed with flowers; Mrs. Schumacker, very pale blue muslin, pretty pale blue and pink floral hat; Mrs. Chapman, brown costume, hat en suite: Mrs. Staples green check linen, hat to correspond; Mrs. Bannister, cream coat and skirt, brown hat; Airs. Scanlon, white muslin robe, burnt straw hat, trimmed with blue velvet and red poppies; Miss Young, black and white costume, hat to match; Airs. Ambery, pretty grey muslin, black feathered hat; Airs. Tribe (senior), pretty gr< y and black voile, lovely lace scarf, di’ntv pale blue bonnet; Mrs. Okey, pale heliotrope costume, trimmed with a darker shade, hat en suite; Mrs. Dowling white and pale blue costume, black hat; Mrs. R. Cock, mauve linen coat and skirt trimmed with braid a darker shade, white hat with black and white feathers; Miss Putt, petunia linen with hat to. match; Misses Putt, white muslin; Aliss Baker, grey muslin, black hat ; Aliss -R. Baker, white muslin; Aliss Smith, white muslin, burnt straw hat trimmed with black velvet; Airs. Newman, petunia coloured costume, pretty toque to correspond; Mrs. Sinclair, white embroidered mufelfn, black and white hat: Aliss Sinclair, white costume; Alisses Avarin (2), white frocks, pretty coloured hats; Mrs. Sole, grey and black muslin, black hat; Mrs. Hill, white; Airs. Dew, white muslin; Mrs. Doyle, white costume, black hat; Mrs. Rudd, pah* pink linen, black hat; Mrs. Sandford, black and white muslin, toque to correspond; Airs. (?. Stocker, white muslin, black hat; Mrs. Medley, cream silk, hat relieved with pale pink roses; Airs. F. Okey, black and white costume, black toque with flowers; Aliss Okey, white linen. A Dance. 'A most enjoyable little dame was got up by the girls of the town, last Friday evening in the Brougham-street Hall. (Mesdanies Bewley, Fitzhefbcrt, and Waller acting as chaperone®*

Personal. Aliss Cormack, who lias been the guest of Mrs. Fitzlierbert, New Plymouth, has returned to her home in Carterton. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Adkins, who have .been visiting New Plymouth, have returned to Mt. Eden. Mr. and Mrs. M. Eraser have returned to New Plymouth, after their short but pleasant trip to the Dawson Palls, Mt. Egmont. Mr. Evans (Auckland), is the guest of his brother, Rev. F. G. Evans, New Plymouth. Miss Lucy Skinner has returned to New Plymouth after- her pleasant eighteen uroliths’ trip to the Old Country.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo. Horrocks, who have been visiting Mrs. Quilliam, New Plymouth, have returned to their home in Feilding.

Mrs. B. Dolan, of Napier, has 'been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Percy Lawson, New Plymouth, but has now returned. Miss Inez Kirkby has returned to New Plymouth after being absent for twelve months.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Lusk (Parnell. Auckland), are tile guests of Mrs. AV. D. Wcibster, New Plymouth. Mr. Warne Pearce, of Temuka. is the guest of Mrs. J. B. Ray, New Plymouth.
