October 29. Active workers are busily engaged in preparing for two bazaars, which are to take place in the near future. One is in aid of the Presbyterian Church funds

and the other in aid of the Fire Brigade, both equally popular and worthy objects. The proposal to erect a Town Hall was carried by a considerable majority.

Mrs. Bickford was tendered a complimentary euchre party last week by a number of friends anxious to support her in her candidature for a world's tour. There was a large muster of players at the tennis courts on the opening day, and a dainty afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. Bickford ansi much appreciated by players and spectators. Personal. Mrs. Somerville is visiting Wellington. Mrs. G. W. Wright is on a visit to Napier. Miss R. Jenssen is visiting Dannevirke. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bell, of “Riverlands/’ Blenheim, passed through on their way to Napier. A branch of the Girls' Friendly Society has been farmed here, and the number of members and candidates for membership is steadily increasing. Mr. and Mrs. Morris are still in Dannevirke, and are staying a' Hotel.
