October 27. Tennis. Very pleasant was the afternoon spent at the Marlborough Lawn Tennis ground in Dillon-street. when both tennis and eroquet were indulged in by quite a number of enthusiasts. Mrs Adams and the Misses Bell dispensed a dainty tea, which was much appreciated. Some of those present were: —Mrs Adams, blue linen dress, blue hat; Mrs Wolferstan, ‘black and white checked costume, black hat; Mrs Broughton, blue linen costume, blaek hat; Mrs Waddy, white linen dress, burnt straw bat; Mrs R. McCallum, creme serge costume, hat wreathed with large-coloured roses; Mrs Marsh, brown costume, hat with Howers; Mrs Griffiths, navy blue costume; Mrs I’. Wiffen, green linen frock, black hat; Mrs B. >tHouston, green tailor-made, toque relieved with roses; Mrs Satchel), grey costume; Misses Bell (2), navy blue costume; Neville, white tussore frock, hat with pale blue; Chaytor (2), brown costumes; C. Clouston, brown eoat and skirt, hat with roses; Zoe Clouston, navy Russian costume, pink hat: Muir, navy costume; D. Horton, navy tailor-made; Barnett, brown eoat and skirt; B. Griffiths, Ewart (2), Messrs. B. A. Moore, I. Brock, Fisher, G. Waddy, W. Churchward, P. Bill. Anderson. C. Maeshane, Hickson (Wellington), Griffiths, etc.
Orchestral Society's Concert. On Tuesday evenin'!; in the Blenheim Town Hall, the Blenheim Orchestral Society held a most successful and enjoyable concert. The music rendered was of an entirely different class from that which the Society have previously taken, and some of the best local vocalists assisted. The attendance was hardily as good as could be expected, although the front part of the hall and the gallery were well filled. A few of those present were:—Mrs R. McCallum, Mrs Hall, Mrs Tunis. Mrs Broughton, Mrs Florence, Mrs Fisher, Mrs Marsh, Mrs McLauchlan, Misses Fisher, Hall, Floranee, Marsh, Messrs. H. Hodson, R. Bird, W. Churchward, Spragg, C. Macshane, B. Moore, O'Meara, Florence, ete. Personal. Dr. Bennett left here on Saturday afternoon for New Plymouth. Mr G. .1. Anderson, M.P.. for Mataura, ami A. S. Malcolm, M.P. for Clutha, arrived in Blenheim on Saturday night. Miss Wastney (Nelson) is visiting Mrs R. J. Bell, at “Holmdale." Miss Gertrude Cooper (Wellington) ami Miss Amy Neville, are visiting Mrs Wm. Adams at “Langley Dale.” The Misses Midlane (Wellington), who have been visiting the Misses Girling, have returned. Miss Yarrall (Greymouth) is the guest of Mr ami Mrs A. McKenzie. Mr and Mrs H. Howard are visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs P. Stuart, Spring Creek, are visiting Napier. Mr A. S. Collins, Miotueka, passed through Blenheim during the week on his way to “The Shades.” Mrs OifPord (Havelock) is visiting Miss Maclaine at “York Terrace.” Mr B. Coleman (“Vernon”) has returned from a short visit to the Kmpire City.
