September 30. St. Paul s Recreation Club. St. Paul’s Recreation Club gave their annual display in ths, Schoolroom last Friday evening. Air. It. D. D. Alaclean, president of the club, presided, and numerous handsome trophies were presented, including a cup and gold medals. Air. Czar gave an interesting exhibition of jujitsu. The Napier men were assisted by members of the Clive Club. The ladies went through various clever and, graceful exercises with wands, dumbbells. and clubs, concluding with a running maze. Miss Hatch, the pianist, was presented by the lady members with a case of blue enamel hatpins. There were about two hundred people present. A dainty supper was provided by Airs. Asher and Mrs. Ringtand. Afternoon Tea. Mrs. Retameyer gave an afternoon tea on Wednesday last for Airs, and the Mieses Coats (Christchurch), who have come to live in Napier. Airs, and Miss Coats are very musical, and should prove a great acquisition to the musical circles in Napier. Putting Competition. Mi«s Lorna Mclx-an invited a number of girl friends to a putting competition

on Friday afternoon. The day was perfect, and afternoon tea was much enjoyed on the lawn. Flayers drew for partners, and there was much laughing before Aliss Legatt finally beat Miss 8. Rutherfurd, thus winning the prize. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Ale'Neil, Aliss Ewen, Aliss Hetley, Aliss D. Rutherfurd, Aliss S. Rutherfurd, Aliss Lever, Aliss Hindmarsh, Alias B. Hindmarsh, Alias White, Aliss Legatt. Personal. Airs. Sainsbury has returned from England, and is spending a few days at the Alasonie Hotel before proceeding to Gisborne. Alles Biehford has returned to Dauuevirke. Airs. Simcox (Otaki) is visiting Airs. Davis. Air. and Airs. Bowring left to-day for. Gisborne, where they intend to reside for some time. Alias Thompson (Christchurch) is visiting Airs. Paisley, Franee-road. Aliss Aloore, who has been relieving Aliss Kirke at the Girls’ High School, left for Auckland to-day to commence her duties as science mistress at the Auckland Grammar School. Aliss Ethel White (Otane) is visiting Airs. Rutherfurd. Aliss Coleman and Aliss Adams have returned to Gisborne after the Golf Tournament. Miss Warren, of Pahiatua, is visiting the Misses Hunter. Air and Airs Harry Nelson and their two daughters are staying at Waikoko for Aliss Hilda Nelson’s wedding. Air E. W. Nelson, Aliss K. Sherratt (Gisborne) and Aliss Essie Grey (Gisborne) are the guests of Air and Airs William Nelson at 'Waikoko. Air and Airs Harold Russell (Apley) are the guests of Dr. and Airs Nairn, Hastings, MARJORIE.
