False Income Returns.
The correct amount of the sum fa be paid by Bowron Bros, in respect of income tax and penalties arising out of the short return of the income for the year 1905 is £9408 10/. The amount of income ,on which the tax was not paid was £44,965. Details of the tax penalties, etc., are as follows:—Fine £lOO, tax on £44,965 £2248 4/, ten per cent penalty £224 16/; treble amount of tax short paid £6744 15/, costs allowed Department £9l; total, £9408 16/.
