August 12. Horses and Hounds. , The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club had a most successful run at Round Bush oil Saturday. There were a very large number present, amongst..them M.r. D. G. Riddiford, .the master of the Rangitikei Hunt, and Mrs. Riddiford, also several other members of the club. Amongst those following were: .Mrs. D. G. On Saturday Mrs. E. Cowper gave an enjoyable little tea in honour of Mrs. Greig (of Auckland), who has been staying in Wanganui, with Mrs. Cowper, “Kutuku,” and Miss Alexander. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Cowper, Mrs. Greig, Miss Alexander, Miss Fraser, Miss A. Cowper, Miss N. Cowper, Mrs. Izett, Mrs. Sarjeant, and others. Bridge Party. On Monday evening Miss Brewer gave a small bridge party in honour of Mrs. Carr, of Dunedin, who is staying in Wanganui with her sister, Mrs. John Anderson. There were three tables, and the prizes were won by Mrs. Carr and Mrs. D’Arcy. On Tuesday evening Mrs. John Anderson gave a small bridge party for Mrs. Carr. The prizes were won by Mrs. Fairburn and Miss Owen. At the Rink. A large number still continue to patronise the rink. Amongst those I have noticed recently are: Mrs. G. Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. P. Krull, Miss P. Jones, Mr L. Chamberlain, Miss Russell (Christchurch), Miss D. Marshall, Miss Christie, Miss Kerr, Miss Hawker, Mr. K. Chamberlain, Mr. Strouts, Mias Brettargh, Miss N. Jackson, Miss Carew (Dunedin), Mr. R. Stevenson, Miss W. Anderson, *Mis-s .Moore, Miss Gresson, Mrs. McNaughton Christie, Mrs. Good, and manjr others. Morning Tea. On Wednesday Mrs. Pettle-Izett gave an enjoyable morning tea for Mrs. Greig, of Auckland. Amongst those present were Mrs. Cowper, Mns. Moore, Mrs. Krull, Mrs. Marshall, Mrs. Izard, Mrs. Montgomerie, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. H. I. Jones, Brewer, and Mrs Carr'lDuuadin). On the Links. There were a very large number on the golf links on Wednesday. The day was beautifully fine, and there was also a match played. Afternoon tea was given

by Mrs. and Miss Wil ford and Mrs. Horace Wilson. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Sarjeant, Mrs. A. Izard, Miss E. Anderson, Mrs. Greig (Auckland), Mrs. Izett, Miss Alexander, Mrs. and Miss Walford, Mre. H. Watson, Mrs. D’Arcy, Mrs. G. Marshall, Miss Hawken, Miss Moore, Mrs. G. Saunders, Mrs. Cowper, Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. Carr (Dunedin), Mrs. John Stevenson, Mies Christie, Mrs. Colin Campbell, Mrs. James Watt, Mrs. Clay, Mrs. Marsack (Auckland), Miss A. Cowper, Miss N. Cowper, Miss Cave, Mises Brettargh, Mrs. Tewsley, Miss Bates, and others. Personal. Mrs. Barnicoat, of Wanganui, is staying in Wellington for a few weeks. Mrs. Greig, of Auckland, Is staying in Wanganui with Miss Alexander. Mrs. Young, of Eltham, has been staying in Wanganui with her sister, Mrs. Mackay, and Mrs. R. Montgomerie. Mrs. H. Good, of Wanganui, left last ■week for Christchurch, to be present at the Grand National and the Golf Tournament.
