July 29. Children's Party. Everything has been slacjc this week, owing to the weather we have been experiencing. A committee of ladies organised a charming children’s fancy dress party, which was held in the. Foresters’ Ball on Saturday night, and in spite of the bad weather, quite a number iturned up and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The little guests were as follows: —Master K. Robinson, General Tom Thumb; Aliss Kitty Grant, Kate Greenaway; Alaster K. Grant, ‘ Sailor; Aliss G. Uniacke and Aliss Al. Uniacke, Beefeaters; Aliss L. Capping, Harvest; Aliss Joyce Raikes, Powder and Patches; Miss Ruth Raikes, Rosalind; Aliss Rei Crawshaw, Summer; Aliss N. Malone (New Plymouth), Pierrette; Alaster Gerald Evatt, Cupid; Alaster Alec. Johnston, Japanese Clown; Alaster Bob Menzies, ’ French down; Miss Dorothea Heatley, Fairy. The juveniles, after supper, went home, leaving the ‘'grownups” to enjoy another dance. Amongst the latter we noticed: Airs. Grant, Airs. Evatts, Air. and Airs. Raikes, Air. and Airs. B. Good, Airs. Uniacke, Air. and Airs. E. C. Robinson, Mrs Crawshaw, Air and Airs Heatley, Air. and Mrs. Copping, Aliss Make. Air. and Airs. Anderson, Air. and Mrs. Wilkie, Air. and Airs. Rennell, Al ns. Menzies, Airs. Mackay, 'the Alisses Mackay,. Air. T. James, Aliss Nancy James, Mr. S. James, Air. and Airs. C. Penn, Aliss Black, Mr. T. C. Fookes, Mr. \ r . Crawshaw, Mr. C. Crawshaw, Mr. C. Anderson, Mr. K. Robinson. Personal. Mr. and Airs. A. W. Budge have returned from Wellington. Aliss Glyneis has returned from u short holiday to Auckland. Dr. and Airs. Maclagan have returned fiom Wellington. Aliss F. Orbell is visiting in Palmerston. Dr. and Mrs. Paget have left for a •bort holiday.

Mr. Spence is at present in Wellington.
