June 23. Small Dance. On Friday evening a most enjoyable impromptu dance was held in the new “Loloma” Tea Rooms by the Misses Niven and Bull. Dancing took place in a large room on the lower portion of the building. Misses Niven and Bull received their guests at the head of the stairs, both wearing soft black taffeta dresses, relieved with creme lace. Some of those present were: Mrs. Walker, black sequined robe over black taffeta; Mrs. Bennett, black taffeta gown; Mrs. Mills, pale green taffeta robe; Mrs. F. Bull, creme crepe de chine; Misses Chaytor (2), white silk dresses; R. Horton, bordered muslin dress; Amuri Neville, white silk; Belle Griffiths, black ninon Empire robe; Clouston (2), white taffeta dresses; Janet Bell, white muslin; AL Bell, black silk; E. Mowat, pale green muslin; Ivy Ewart, white muslin; N. Bull, mauve velvet robe; Alessrs. 11. Hodson. B. Aloore, Waddy, Churchward, C. Mills, F. Bull, F. Clouston, A. Bell, P. Hill, Pierpont, C. Mae Shane, and Dr. Bennett. On the Links. Quite a number of ladies and gentlemen journeyed to the Riverland Golf Links last Saturday afternoon. A dainty tea was provided by the ladies present. Some of those 1 noticed were: Mesdames C. Chaytor, Maclaine, B. Clouston. Misses Douslin, Chapman, Ross, B. Griffiths, Chaytor (2), Clouston (2), E. Mowat, R. Horton. Messrs. Davey, B. Moore, C. Mae Shane. Bird. B. Clouston, Davis, Hart, Smail, Fisher. Presentation. Quite a gathering of the friends of Air. W. Matheson assembled at the Blenheim railway station on Thursday afternoon to bid him farewell. Air. Matheson has for the past year been on the staff of the local branch of Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., during which time he has made himself very popular in our midst, and it was with feelings of regret we learned of his transfer to the Wellington branch of the Company. Prior to taking his departure Mr. J. Rollo Sharp, on behalf of himself and stall', presented Mr. Matheson with a handsome travelling rug as a memento of their appreciation of his many good qualities. Personal. Mrs. Carey is visiting Airs. Dillon at Leefield. Aliss Mere Brittain is visiting Langley Dale. Invitations arc issued for the wedding of Aliss Ilazeldene Florence, second daughter of Airs. W. E. Clouston, ‘‘St. Andrew’s,” to Air. A. Bell, of ‘•Riverlands,” for July 2nd. Miss Perret (Renwicktown) is visiting Miss Newton in Maxwell-road.

Mr. K. Willis was in town during the week. Mr. and Mrs. W. Adams (Langley Dale) have returned after spending a few days in town. Mrs. Florence, wife of our worthy Stipendiary Magistrate, has joined her husband in Blenheim. They have taken up their quarters at the Criterion Hotel. Hon. C. H. Mills and Mrs. Mills (Wellington) are staying at the Club Hotel. Miss Olive Mills (Wellington) is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Neville (Thurston). Miss Evelyn Mowat is spending a few days in Wellington. Mr. W. B. Stevenson (I’pcot) passed through Blenheim during the week on his way to Christchurch. Mr. R. McCallum is visiting the North Island. Mrs. I. Johnston (Waverley) is visiting her parents at I'gbrooke.
