Al ay 8. A Social. * The Picton Brass Baud held their antaual social last Friday evening, when, though the weather was unfavourable, a large number attended. The Picton Orchestra and the Band supplied perfect ruufcic, and a very enjoyable evening was Spent. Among those present were: Alesdames IT. Personal. Airs aud Miss Allen have gone to spend the Alay vacation with Airs G. Rutherford, at Wairere. Air and Airs Hainmerton are spending a few days at Picton. The installation of the new Alayor (Air Gordon Alaitland) took place on Wednesday. The retiring Alayor (Mr AlcCormiek) and the councillors made complimentary speeches, and a vote of thanks was passed to Air AleCormiek. The Rev. Dr. and Airs Nesbit, of Dunedin, have returned from a visit to their home, and intend spending a few weeks in the Pelorus Sound with their son.
Air and Airs Duncan are spending a few da vs in Wellington.
Airs Speed and her daughter (Mrs Gilles) left Pieton on Wednesday for Wellington, where Airs Speed will spend tile winter.
Air and Airs Furniss, of Wellington, are on a visit to Mr and Airs Lucena, of I nner Wellintrton-street.
