Auckland—First Grade. NORTH SHORE v. EDEN. The cricket championships were continued on Saturday, when tlie matches commenced last week were concluded. At Eden Park, North Shore resumed with three wickets down for 40, but were 16 runs short of Eden’s total when the last wicket fell, with the score at 118, of which Spence made 53. Eden, in their second innings, rattled up 214 for three wickets before the bell rang, Gordon scoring 107 by chanceless cricket. PARNEBH V. UNIVERSITY. At the North Shore, University, with one wicket down for 57, Increased their ecore

to 296, Wallace 70 and Graham 62 being the principal contributors. Parnell, in their second venture lost five wickets for 51, University winning on the first innings by 101 runs. GRAFTON v. PONSONBY. At Victoria Park, Grafton closed their innings with seven wickets for 248, S. I’. Jones reaching the coveted century, and was not out when the closure was applied. Ponsonby, in their second innings, lost four wickets for 187, Snedden scoring 75. In their first innings Ponsonby had scored 101. Second Grade. Waitemata v. ’Varsity—Waitemata carried their over-week total to 121 without losing a wicket, and then applied the closure. In pursuit of 213 ruu«, Vars’-v opened badly, and finally wound up w*Ti a total of 91. Waitemata thus secured a three-point win, with 122 runs in hand. Grafton v. Ponsonby—Ponsonby’ts first Tunings realised 105, and Grafton’s 114. In a minority of 9 runs, Ponsonby’s second iiiings realised 92. Grafton, wanting 83 runs to win, secured them for the loss of one wicket. Parnell v. Eden B. —The match resulted in a three-point win for Parnell. Continuing their first innings, with one wicket down for 78 runs, Parnell went on to 188, giving them a lead of 50 nrns on the innings. Eden made a poor showing, and were all out for 76, Francis (33, not out) being the only batsman to make a stand. Requiring 27 for a win, Parnell went to the wickets and knocked off the runs for the loss of 2 wickets, winning the match by 8 wickets. Eden A. v. North Shore—Eden A. first innings, 135; North Shore first innings, 69. Eden’s second innings realised 74 and North Shore responded with 76. Eden thus secured a three-point win. Thames. The matches commenced last week were concluded on Saturday. Hauraki A defeated Tararu A by 14 runs on the first innings. Tararu B scored a 3-point win from Hau* raki B. Wellington. The fourth round of the senior cricket matches was concluded on Saturday in perfect weather. East A had a two-point win against Central by 27 runs. Kinvig made 53 and C. Hickson 31 for Central. In East A’s second innings Tucker scored 42 and Miumne 20. South defeated Victoria College by one wicket. For College Foster made 64, iNiven 23, and Dempsey 17. Patrick notched 60 (not out) Burton 27, and David 22 for South. Dunedin Splendid weather prevailed on Saturday for the cricket matches. Grange met Carisbrook B, and were disposed of for 130 (Henderson 40, Wright 30). Carisbrook made 139 for five wickets (Siedeberg 80, Austin 35 not out). Albion made ♦ 102 against Carisbrook A (McFarlane 28) and 56 for no wickets (McFarlane 39 not out), while Carisbrook were disposed of for 104 (Hopkins 32). Dunedin compiled 145 against Opoho (Wilson 33, Mackersey 32). Callaway, ex-Canterbury representative, took seven wickets for 57 runs. Opoho have made 33 for five wickets. Torrance secured two wickets for 3 runs. The Plunket Shield. WELLINGTON V. AUCKLAND. Owing to a number of those selected to practice for 'the forthcoming Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Auckland not attending regularly, the selectors have added the names of Taylor (University) and Sneddon (Ponsonby) to the list. In picking the final team, the selectors intend giving every consideration to those who have attended regularly. The Australian Tour. In connection with the Wellington Cricket Association’s refusal to join in with those associations which had guaranteed for matches with the Australian team, a resolution of the special meeting of the Cricket Council was considered by the committee, and after discussion it was unanimously resolved that the honorary secretary should write and ascertain from the various associations which have consented to provide guarantees for matches with the Australian team whether or not they would be prepared to give the guarantees offered by them if the pooling system is abandoned—that is to say, that each association to which’ a match is granted must pay its guarantee for that match, and expenses of the match, appropriating to its own use the whole profits of the match. The associations concerned are asked to forward a definite reply by December.
