HASTINGS.

November 11. Floral Fete. Last Tuesday afternoon a meeting of those interested in the floral fete, to be held under the auspices of the Society for the Health of Women and Children, was held in the Library Hall. About 60 were present at the meeting. It was decided to hold the fete on the racecourse on December- Bth.

Visiting Gowns. Mrs. Jack Miller is wearing a smart Putty cloth pleated frock, white soutache, plumed hat of black; Mrs. H. Russel is wearing a green hair cloth coat and skirt, amethyst mushroom hat; Mrs. (Colonel) Goring, silver taffeta Russian jacket and skirt, burnt straw hat with black silk bows; Mrs. Maedonell, shepherd’s plaid kilted frock, and a chic little blaek buttoned eoatee, black hat; Mrs. Tosswill is looking particularly nice in a blaek and white striped costume and a saxe blue hat and veil; Mrs. Newbigen, military blue coat and kilted skirt, champagne straw sailor, with rose velvet band, jet medallions, blue and champagne cockade; Miss Barcroft, a smart green and brown plaid coat and skirt, Panama hat; Mrs. Nairn, brown braided coat and skirt, brown toque with large mysotis blue wings; Mrs. J. Faulkner is wearing a grey costume with lovely petrol blue satin hat, which becomes her exceedingly well; Mrs. Beilby is looking stylish in a gown of a fuchsia tone, black sequined hat; Mrs. Williams (Havelock), black and white striped coat and skirt, faced with blaek silk, cinnamon straw hat with black silk; Mrs. Lewis looks very elegant in a chamois cloth coat and skirt, buttoned and braided and lined with rose silk, becoming hat of corresponding shades; Mrs. Scannelt, grey coat and skirt, pretty blaek hat with touches of China blue; Mrs. BrookTaylor, handsome tobacco brown silk voile gown, smart hat en suite; Mrs. Lowry, mole and blaek striped coat and skirt, amethyst stole, black Merry Widow hat.

Personal. Mrs. Maedonell has gone to Wellington with her father (Mr. Munroe), who is returning to the West Coast. The Misses Mac-farlane _ (Grange) have gone for a trip to Rotorua. Mrs. Z. Cameron has returned from Masterton. Mrs. Peterson has gone back to Woodville. Misses Foster are visiting relatives in Hastings.
