CRICKET.
Wakefield Club. A meeting was held la the Wakefle'dstreet Hall, Auckland, last week, when it was decided to reform tho Wakefield Cricket Club. Until last season the Wakefield Club were premiers for several years of the League competitions, but last year the club was allowed to lapse. Mr B. S. Mackay was appointed secretary, Mr T. Kerr treasurer, and Messrs J. Iloare, It. Magee, and W. Edmonds as a general committee. Several prominent players have promised to play, among them being It., S., aud Wi iMagee, and judging from the support promised at the meeting, the success of tko club seems assured.
English Cricket.
In the match between the M.C.G. Australian eleven, composed of Australianborn cricketers playing for the counties, and Lord Londes borough’s English eleven, the penultimate match of the seaboh, played in London last week, the Australians were opposed by a powerful English side. Batting first, Lord Londesborough’a team scored 408 and then declared their innings closed, his Highness the Joan Sahib (Ranjiteinhji) having scored 101 and B. j. T. Bosanquet 82. Tire Australian eleven replied with 238 in their first Innings, and, following on, bad scored 100 for the loss of tout wickets when time wa» called, the match thus resulting in a draw.
