Dear Bee, September 10. I have quite a budget of news this week. Last Thursday, in the Theatre Royal, the HOSPITAL BALL took plate, and was a brilliant success from every point of view. The floor Was crowded with d-amers, and the. stage and gallery well filled with spectators. Mrs A. Genge's orchestra supplied splendid music, and,Messrs E. Humphries and W. Way aete as M.C.'s. The table decorations, under the management of Miss Hanna, were daintily composed of narcissi, violets, ami mimosa. The Ladies’ Committee comprised Mesdames Dockrill (president). Leatbam, Wylie, G. Tisch. F. E. Clarke, Penn, Rollo, S. Hooper, Stocker Bach, Simmons . Richards, R. Jury. E. M. Smith, Misses Wade. E. Collis, Godfrey, Humphries (2), Nichol and Hanna (2). Every credit is due to Mr A. Humphries, the energetic secretary, and Mr F. Bellringer (chairman of the Hospital Board). Mrs H. I. Jones (Wanganui) is the guest of Mrs R. H. Nolan (Hawera) for a few days. Mrs H. Hursthouse (Westport) has been spending a few days with Mrs R. B. Hair (Hawera). Mrs Hardiman Good (Whangarei) is the guest of Mrs Good, sen., Hawera. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr and Mrs Hugh Baily, New Plymouth, have gone to Wellington, thence on to Auckland through the Main Trunk line. Mr R. G. Scott, of the Bank of New Zealand, New Plymouth, has been transferred to Opunake. Mrs Eraser, New Plymouth, has gone on a short visit to Wanganui. Mr W. M. Bayly, has just returned to New Plymouth, from a trip to tl’.e Old Country. Mr and Mrs W. H. Skinner, leave London this week en route to New Zealand and New Plymouth.
