NEW PLYMOUTH.

Dear Bee, May 16. The boys of New Plymouth gave a most ENJOYABLE DANCE. in the Freemasons'" Hall last Wednesday evening to the schoolgirls (alias Flappers) and those who have just made their debut; and didn’t they enjoy themselves? It was quite refreshing to see their happy faces, the blase and tired look not yet having made its appearance. The chaperones were Mesdames Bewley, Alexander, and Glasgow. Thrilling music was provided by McKinnon Bain. Amongst those present were:—Mrs. Bewley, black silk, lovely yoke of real lace; Miss Gwen Bewley, pretty frock of rose pink muslin, shoulder straps inset with cream lace, pink ribbon in hair; Mrs. Alexander looked well in black merveilleux, narrow berthe of white accordion pleted chiffon, handsome black lace scarf; Miss Alexander, white embroidered muslin, blaek velvet Empire sash, mauve ribbons in hair; Mrs. Glasgow, black silk; Miss Midge Glasgow, pale green tucked muslin trimmed with cream insertion; Miss Gladys Roy, white frilled muslin, orange silk sash; Miss Connie Leatham, turquoise blue crepe de chine trimmed with cream laee and insertion; Miss Keitha Leatham looked sweet in pale pink crepe de chine, tucked baby bodice trimmed with cream laee and silver tassels; Miss Kathleen Watson, pretty pale green figured muslin, finished with Valenciennes lace; Misses Muriel and Madge Swan (Auckland) wore cream and white silk frocks respectively, prettily tucked and 1 trimmed with white lace; Miss M. Last Thursday evening, tn the Foresters’ Hall, Hawera, Mr. and Mrs. Nolan gave MOST DELIGHTFUL DANCE in honour of Miss Dorothy Nolan (Auckland) and Miss Brenda Hunter (Hamilton), who are visiting them. The evening was an ideal one for dancing —bright moonlight, with just a touch of frost in the air, to make everything envigorating. The supper table was very prettily arranged with gaillardias, chrysanthemums, and autumn leaves, while the music was provided by the Misses Flynnes. Mr. and Mrs. Nolan received their guests, the latter wearing a rich black velvet, with lovely cream lace berthe; Miss D. Nolan, black chiffon taffetas, relieved with scarlet geraniums; Miss Beryl Nolan, canary coloured silk, with cream lace fichu; Mrs. Bob Brewer, pale pink silk, with tucker of eream point d’esprit; Miss Wishaw, pale green chiffon, with dark green velvet finishing decolletage: Miss Brenda Hunter (Hamilton), white insertioned muslin, trimmed with Valenciennes lace; Miss Dorothy Nolan (Auckland), white insertioned muslin; Miss Vera Bertt, pale green tucked Louisine silk, decolletage softly finished with frills of chiffon; Miss Ruby Brewer, a lovely pale pink chiffon taffetas; Miss Maud Brewer, scarlet velvet, with cream lace berthe; Miss N. Bayly have returned to New Plymouth after their pleasant trip to Napier. Mrs. Littlejohn, of Wellington, is the guest of- Miss Wade. New Plymouth.
