CAMBRIDGE.

Dear Bee, Mareh 7. The great event of this week has been the fifth annual gathering of the WAIKATO CENTRAL AGRICULTURAL SHOW, which wan held in Alexandra Park on the 4th and sth. On Thursday (the People’s Day) the weather was perfect, and the attendance was large, visitors coming from all parts of Waikato. The tent in which home industries were displayed was crowded the whole day by interested spectators. Mr. Scott, of the Thames, who was judge, spoke very highly of the exhibits, and said the jams shown by Mrs. E. Veale were the best he had ever seen. The horticultural exhibits were much admired, Mr. W. F. Buckland showing some lovely flowering begonias, and Messrs. Wells and Sharp cactus dahlias and gladiolus. The Cambridge town baud was present, and under the baton of Mr. C. Stewart rendered several musical items during the afternoon. The grandstand was so packed with people that it was most difficult to sue what anyone had on, but the few I wue able to see were: Mrs. N. Banks, in .white embroidered muslin and green straw hat with flowers; Mrs. Roberts, white embroidered muslin, and black and white toque; Mrs. Martyn, white linen, and white hat trimmed with floral ribbon; Miss Cave (Papakura), white inus-

lin, and black crinoline straw hat trimmed with black tulle and pink roses; Mrs. A. B. Herrold (Auckland), white coat and skirt, and black picture hat; Mrs. H. Crowther, white muslin, and green hat trimmed with roses; Mrs. C. Hunter, white embroidered linen Eton coat and skirt, and white hat trimmed with white tulle and daisies; Mrs. Taylor, grey coat and skirt, and black toque; Miss Taylor, pale pink frock, and hat to match; Mrs. A. H. Nieoll, white coat and skirt, and black picture hat; Mrs. A. J. Edmunds, white embroidered muslin, and white hat with brown veil; Mrs. W. Thornton, white muslin, and white hat trimmed with roses; Miss Maud Douglas (Auckland), white muslin, white hat with roses; Mrs. R. Fisher, tabac brown silk, and toque to match; Miss Gwynneth, grey coat and skirt, and hat en suite; Miss Willis, white muslin, white hat trimmed with white tulle; Miss K. Willis, white muslin, and white hat trimmed with white muslin bows; Miss Wells, white embroidered linen, creme net hat trimmed with black velvet and large pink rose; Miss H. Wells, white embroidered linen, and white hat with large white silk bows; Miss Richardson, white muslin, white hat with white muslin bows. The Hamilton “Kentucky Darkies” very generously gave two entertainments on the Show nights in aid of the Agricultural Association Grandstand Debenture Fund, which proved most successful, and the audience was most appreciative. On the second night the hall was packed, and seats had to be put up the aisles. During the evening Mr. R. Reynolds, in the absence of the President, returned thanks to the troupe for their generous assistance. Mr. Warren, the secretary of the company, responded. SOME PURELY PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Herrold, of Auckland, were the guests of Mrs. James Hally during tne Show. Mr. Herrold returned to town on Saturday, and Mrs. Herrold is now staying with Miss Gwynneth, at the “Bungalow,” Cambridge. Mr. Muir Douglas and Miss Douglas, of Epsom, were staying with Mrs. J. R.
