GISBORNE.

Dear Bee, Winter seems to have descended on us with a vengeance, and the only thing to do is to go in for the outdoor amusements to keep warm. Last Saturday the golf links were crowded with players, the chief event being a men’s match. Other players were Mrs Morgan, Mrs King, Mrs Barlow, Mrs Stock, Mrs V. Barker, Miss Adams, Miss Sweet, Misses Barker, Miss Black, Miss Nolan, Miss Chrisp, Miss ( ‘rawford, Mrs A. Rees, Mrs Eliott. Jhs Stephenson, Airs H. M. Porter. Airs Buekeridge and Airs A. F. Ken■edy provided delicious afternoon tea.

Last Wednesday a team of lady hockey players arrived by boat from Hastings. On Thursday afternoon a match was played—Hastings (Te Kooti) v. Gisborne. The game, which was a most interesting and exciting one, resulted in a win for the local team by 5 goals to nil. Last night, Air R. N. Jones gave a most enjoyable “At Home” in honour of the hockey girls. Another match is advertised for to day, and to-night a hockey dance is io be held in Whinray’s Hall. The visitors are not returning home until Wednesday, so a return match will be played against the local rep. team on Monday.
