TENDING THE MOTHERLESS. Shepherding on the “fells” in lambing time is no joke. A start is usually made long before daylight—aften at 3 a.m.- —and all weakly lambs are bottle fed, while some who may have lost their mothers, or who appear extra sickly, are borne off home, as shown in the picture above.
