GISBORNE.
Dear Bee» June *2. The weather is simply impossible, and renders all thoughts of playing golf, etc., out of the question. The Prince of Wales’ Birthday was generally observed as a holiday on Thursday, and as the weather cleared up conveniently for the occasion, there were a good many players on the links. Last Sat unlay Mrs Barlow and Mrs O'Meara provided afternoon tea. Amongst the players out the day were Mrs King, Mrs Morgan, Mrs Willock. Mrs Elliott. Misses Adams, Sweet, Rutledge (2). Wallis, Burke and L. Coleman. On Friday evening a most enjoyable little dance was given by the members of “Wairakei House.” There were about fifty people present, and a very pleasant evening was spent. Great preparations are being made for the military ball which is to b? hold on the I) th hist. This ball is always very good, and this year it is expected to be <‘ven a greater success than usual. Miss N. Royse, of Dunedin, spent a week in Gisborne with Mrs Salisbury, and continued on her trip to Auckland this week.
