The committee’s annual report stated that the last regatta from the public’s point of view was a most successful oue. “With reference to the financial aspect of the chib,” the report went on to state, “it is admitted »»y the committee that the balance arrived at after the season’s weak is far from satisfactory. This, we think, U due to the very small proportion of members of the committee who attend seriously and earnestly to the most Important part of the regatta, viz., the collecting of the necessary subscriptions. Without active collectors It is impossible to reach that section of the sympathetic public who are willing to support such functions of a like nature as ours. It will be a question for the meeting to decide ns to the wisdom of cutting down the length of the programme, many considering the programme too long for an afternoon’s amusement.” The balance sheet showed receipts £309. including collections £l3l 5/ and entries for races £4l 14/7.
