(Benn wore black silk, with a deep berthe of cream laee on bodice; Miss Brewer, black satin, pink roses in her hair; Aliss Barry looked very nice in a frock of blue silk, trimmed with white chiffon; Mfcs Winks, yellow satin, the bodice trimmed with violets; Aliss K. Anol h(*r of the chib euchre parlies was held at Mr. Capleu's house last Friday night, and was very successful. There were 12 tables of players, which meant 43 guests, as well as several looking on. A recherche supper was served after the play. Miss Rayly was the successful winner of the ladies’ price, a very pretty gold lie pin. Messrs, Turnbull and Wilkinson hud to play off. the latter being micmsi’ul. getting for his prize a small copper kettle on a spirit lamp. Those present were: Mesdnines Baird. Parkinson. Wilkinson. Dingle, Westenra. Trunhull. ( out Is. Dingle (-2), V. Hunter (Hamilton). Newland. Baird (:»), White. Breit. Seaton, McLean, Carey. Bayley, etc.: Messrs. Atkinson, (het Up, Moorrhousp, Liddle, Kenny. (Dr.) Westenra, Baird (2), Dingle. Turnbull (2), Wilkinson, Gray, Alexander, etc. The 1 law era football team journeyed out to Manaia last Saturday | o try conclusions with the Waimate team. Both these teams were even for the cup. so that naturally there was a groat deal of interest taken in the game. Sad to relast. Ila wont was beaten by one point, which was very hard. 1 think. Waimate having won by such a small margin. The Ifawora team has been very unlucky this year, having lost two of its best players. Messrs. Hunter and Beamish.
