Socially there has been nothing during the week, but the weather has been glorious, so a number of people have taken a mild excitement in coining into town to shop, or pretend to shop. Amongst those I have noticed in Queenstreet were —Mrs Charlie Brown, dark grey tweed Russian eoat and skirt with cream net and lace vest, miroir green ceinture and smart green hat in same tone; Mrs Ernest Beale, blaek Russian coat and skirt with green vandyke collar, cream vest, and large blaek hat; Mrs Lyons, smart walking costume of pale grey flecked tweed made with a Monte Carlo jacket, white vest and large blaek hat; Mrs Ireland, black gown with black applique collar _and trimmings, pretty brocaded silk vest and black plumed hat; Miss Ettye Ireland, navy blue sac coat and skirt, white silk blouse inserted with narrow Valenciennes, blaek and white hat trimmed with white wings and wallflowers; Miss Kempthorne (Dunedin), crimson cloth costume braided with black, white vest and pretty red hat relieved with black; Mrs Alex Ferguson, dark blue cloth costume with blaek hat, handsome fur collarette; Mrs Myers, blaek costume with dainty blue bonnet to match; Miss Myers, white cloth costume with white vest and pretty hat to match; Mrs Ashton, cream hopsack eoatee and skirt, cream vest finished with cream applique, blaek hat; Mrs Napier, navy blue cloth, tailor-made costume, white vest and white gem hat; Miss Dunnett, green cloth jacket and skirt trimmed with bull-coloured revers and strappings, moleskin furs and toque; Miss Daisy Mowbray, navy blue serge, tailor-made, with white blouse, white felt hat; Miss Vera Bell, pretty navy blue walking costume, blue and white blouse, and blue French sailor felt hat; Miss Dorothy Colbeck, brown hopsacking costume, piped with orange brown, felt bat trimmed with brown and white ribbon and quills; Mrs Arthur Brett, dark blue cloth tailor-made gown with white vest, pheasant's wing collarette, and Tuscan hat trimmed with black; Mrs Rathbone, dark blue serge coat and skirt, white vest and large blaek hat trimmed witli ostrich feathers, brown fur collarette; Mrs Tewsley, black skirt, blaek silk Monte Carlo jacket with white silk collar veiled in black applique, pretty toque to match; Mrs Russell, grey tweed Chesterfield coat and skirt piped with green, green felt hat ; Mrs Friend, navy blue serge coat and skirt and hat to match; Mrs McCosh Clark wore a black gown with a sealskin eape, and a blaek hat with blaek and white frieze crown; Miss Pearl Clark, in a smart navy tailormade costume, and a black picture hat: Miss Muriel Whitson was in a stylish navv trotteuse skirt and sae coat, and a white felt French sailor hat with cherry ribbon bows: Miss Winnie Leys wore a becoming Havana brown frieze costume with crimson sat in vest, pale green Toreador hat with blaek folded panne brim, and handsome pelerine stole of sable; Miss Whitson, navy skirt and military coat, faced with a lighter shade of blue, white felt hat with blue and white choux; Mrs Anson, reseda green tweed eoatee costume wit h cream net and lace vest, burnt straw hat wreathed with forget-me-nots and black velvet ribbon; Mrs Blair (Melbourne), dark grey coat and skirt with revers and braiding of green and silver embroidery, blaek toque; Mrs Clem Lawford, black mourning costume, and blaek bat. sable collarette and muff; Mrs Robert, Neill, navy blue serge sae coat and skirt, white vest and black hat; Miss Georgia Denniston, navy blue Chesterfield eoat and skirt, piped with white, pretty pale blue felt hat.

My Hamilton correspondent writes: — “The Hamilton Ladies’ Hockey Club held an At, Home on the Club’s ground on May 7th, the opening day of the hockey season in Hamilton. The weather being favourable, there was a very large attendance of players and their friends. Great credit is due to the energetic secretary (Miss Swarbriek) and the committee for the very successful gathering. The players, attired in uniforms, white blouses, blaek skirts, white tarns, and red and blue ties, were: — Blues: Miss Sandes (captain), Misses Holloway, Stevens, M. V. Hunter, G.
