j/TTr Bee, —• February 13. The first day of the ‘ TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB’S summer meeting was held last Wednesday. The day turned out very stoney and wet which debarred many from going. but those ladies who braved the elements, were closely covered, either with mackintosh or umbrella, so I am afraid my description of the dresses will be rather abrupt:—Mrs. Paul wore black fiilk and heliotrope; Miss Paul, cream silk voile, with handsome trimming, hat on suite; Mrs. Penn, white silk; Miss G 1 Holdsworth, rose pink costume, hat to correspond; Miss J. Newman, handsome blue voile costume, trimmed with black insertion, white picture hat, with large ostrich plume; Miss Glynes black skirt, white «i!k blouse; Mrs. Patterson, black: Mrs. Bonnell, black silk; Misses Rennell, (2), black cost times; Mrs. S. deed, fawn silk; Mrs. G.
