NEW PLYMOUTH.

Dear Bee, September 18. The members of the post and telegraph offices gave their ANNUAL SOCIAL in the Freemasons’ Hall last Friday evening, and it was a great success. The hall was prettily decorated for the occasion, while cosy corners were greatly in evidence. The supper table was daintily arranged with daffodils and jonquils by Aliss E. Fookes. Among those present were: Afrs AlcDiamiid, blaek silk; Miss Mac Diarmid, white silk relieved with pale blue; Afrs Fookes; Miss E. Fookes, blue banded with black, white net sleeves; Miss Paul, white silk with sequin trimming; Aliss Humphries; Aliss H. Humphries looked well in black silk, with transparent sleeves, finished with red roses on corsage; Misses Webster (2), white frilled muslins; Afiss Wbiteombe, white muslin with pale blue belt; Afiss Campbell, pink silk with cream lace bolero; Miss Afackay, white muslin; Afrs Penn, white satin with scarlet roses; Afiss Kirkby, cream and green; Mrs H. Fookes, black, with white chiffon fichu; Miss Evans, yellow flowered muslin; Miss B. Evans, cream and green; Airs W. Skinner; Aliss Skinner, white net and satin ribbon; Afiss L. Skinner, pale blue; Miss Gallagher, pale yellow relieved with black velvet; Mrs Oswin, white net with green bands; Miss Roy, white silk; Afiss Wilson (Naseby), blue Oriental satin with blaek velvet bands; Airs Palmer, cream with satin trimmings; Afiss Free, pale blue, with pas-

sementerie trimming; Miss Crawford, rose pink and black velvet; Aliss H. Crawford, white muslin; Mrs McKenzie; Miss Devenish, black laee over white satin; Afiss Day (Hawera), pretty black silk and net transparent sleeves; Afiss Taylor, white silk; Aliss Wright; Miss B. Smith was much admired in a prettily tucked cream silk voile, finished with chiffon; Miss Capel, blaek silk; Miss S. Capel, yellow; Afiss Al. Capel, white silk relieved with scarlet; Miss Hanna, blaek satin and eream lace; Miss Slattery, cream and pale blue; Afrs R. Coek; Miss C. Cock, white silk; Airs Dockrill, black silk; Aliss Jaekson, black and red; Airs Morgan, rose pink silk; Aliss A. Avery, white insertioned silk over pale pink; Aliss Kerton, pale green; Miss — Kirton, white and scarlet; etc. Among the gentlemen were Afessrs. Fookes (2), Tansey, Beckett, Humphries, Jackson, Day, Palmer, Oswin, Haise, Macey, Shaw, Paul, Thomson, Woodhouse, Worthington, Alclsaac, L. Honeyfleld, Dinniss, Currie, Whitcombe, Webster, Tregellis, Tuke, Elliott, Stokes, Waddie, Weir, Williams, Nolan, Robertson, Free, T. Thomson, Townsend, Taylor, Jeffreys, Standish, L. Williams, L. Horrocks. Last Tuesday evening THE STAR FOOTBALL CLUB HELD THEIR ANNUAL SOCIAL, which was thoroughly enjoyed. During the evening, after Air Dockrill (president) had made a short speech, Mrs Dockrill presented the senior cup to Mr L. Allen (eaptain of the seniors), while Afrs D. O’Brien presented the O’Brien and Carbine challenge shields to Messrs. L. Allen and V. George respectively, on behalf of the senior and junior teams. Hearty cheers were given for Air and Mrs Dockrill and Mr and Mrs D. O’Brien. Mrs Dockrill, on behalf of the junior team, presented a handsomely framed and enlarged photograph of the players to Mrs O’Brien. Mr Dockrill replied on her behalf. The following ladies were on the committee: Mesdames Dockrill, E. M. Smith, Capel, W. Bennett, F. Richards, R. Cock, 8. Hill, R. Jury, Ryan, J. O’Driscoll, F. Clarke, F. Bacon, and Misses H. Humphries, S. Capel, Hopkinson, A. Nichols. Those ladies who decorated the supper table so prettily were Afiss Lawson and Af. Capel, the prevailing colours (club’s) being yellow and black. Excellent music was as usual rendered by Air Rountree’s orchestra. Messrs. E and A. Humphries, F. T; Bellringer, and V. George acted as Af.C.’s.
