OBITUARY.
Air. Walter Kelsall, baker, of Onehunga, died last week, in the western borough after a severe attack of illness. Air. Kelsall was about 56 years of age. He was a well-known figure in Onehunga, being connected with many of the public happenings there. He was n Alason of long standing, and he was formerly a member of the Borough Council. AIRS FANCOURT. Deep and widespread sorrow was felt in Wellington at the death of Airs Fancourt, the wife of the Ven. the Archdeacon of Wellington, which occurred on June 18th, from heart disease. One of the most kindly and charitable of women, Airs Fancourt was universally loved and respected, and her death is a loss to the whole diocese. Deep sympathy is felt for Archdeacon Fancourt and his family. There are two married daughters—Airs Harrison (Wangnnni), and Airs Nevins (Wiiiiar.ipa), and one unmarried; and the only son is studying at Cambridge University. AIAJOR AIORRISON. The death is announced at Dunedin of Major Henry Charles Morrison. Until a few weeks ago the deceased officer was in charge if the Permanent Force located at Dunedin, and he had retired from the New Zealand Artillery on account of severe ill-health not long before his death. The late Major Morrison was a wellknown man in Auckland, as he was for six years in charge at Fort Cautley and Takapuna. His career in New Zealand began in Taranaki, where he arrived a day or two after the first Waireka fight in Alarch, 1860. He was at once enrolled as a volunteer, and sent on outpost duty to the Bell blockhouse, at that time garrisoned by English and colonial troops. In May, 1885, he was appointed to the command of the batteries at North Hoad, Auckland. He was transferred in 1890 to the charge of the forts nt St. Clair, Dunedin, when some internal complaint, which he had probably laid the seed of in his campaigning, assumed a virulent form, and eventually caused his death. His commission in the Artillery dated from June 1, 1870. and he has therefore been 33 years in the service. Shortly before his death he retired from the service, and on that oecasion was presented with n gold wa-tch and chain by the “non-coms.’’ and men of the Dunedin garrison. lie loaves a wife and a grown-up family of four sons nnd a daughter. He married in 1874 n sister of Air Tropes r, Secretary for Labour under the present Alinistry.
