Dear Bee, December 11. A large and very enjoyable afternoon tea for young people was? given on Wednesday by Afiss Daniel and Aliss Abbott at their present residence, Aloturoa-street. The tea tabla in the dining-room was - decorated ■with white daisies, and was spread with all kinds of tempting things. On the stair landing the Italian string band played delightfully all the afternoon. Aliss Daniel wore a soft white silk gown, beautifully tucked and trimmed with lace and insertion; her sister, Aliss Abbott, wore a white voile skirt and tucked satin blouse with inserted lace. present were Mrs Butler, wearing a white crepe de chine gown, almost entirely tucked. and the bodice veiled with cream lace, blue chou and sash and a white tulle hat trimmed with rose and blue satin; Mrs Louis Pharazyn (Featherston), a white silk gown and straw hat with flowers; Mrs Wardrop (Christchurch), cream voile skirt and satin blouse trimmed with lace, toque trimmed with tulle and flowers; Miss Tolhurst wore a blue silk gown trimmed with white lace insertion, and a tucked muslin collar, white hat with blue flowers; the Misses E. and M. Fell, pastel blue voile gowns, with twine coloured guipure, and black chiffon hats; Miss M. Fell, pink floral muslin gown, and a white hat with pink flowers; Miss Fitzherbert, a crushed strawberry voile gown, and a white hat with lace and black velvet; Miss I. Fitzgerald, pale blue silk trimmed with ecru lace, and a burnt straw hat with pink roses; Miss Kiddiford, in a pretty cream muslin gown, much tucked and befrilled, blue chou and sash, and black hat with feathers; Miss Berkley, neat sage green linen gown and cream straw hat with roses; Miss McTavish, in white tucked muslin and a pink toque; Miss Wilford (Wanganui), wore a mourning costume; 1 Miss F. Brandon, a grass lawn gown over pink, and hat trimmed with pink; Miss V. Rawson, soft white tucked silk, trimmed with string coloured insertion, and a rush straw hat with black chiffon and pink roses; Miss E. Rawson, a pink Russian gown with cream lace collar, and a cream and pink hat; the Misses Coleridge wore white spotted muslin gowns with insertion, and red satin sashes, ecru straw hats with roses and lace and black velvet; Miss McGregor had a black Eton coat and skirt, and hat with roses; Miss M. McGregor, a blue linen gown and black and white hat; Miss M. Finch, a pretty light figured muslin and lace gown and a cream hat witht red chiffon and flowers; Miss Barron, a grey voile gown with cream lace, and a floral hat; Miss E. Barron, a pale blue muslin and lace gown; Miss Skerrett, in a dark gown and black hat with tips and flowers; Miss Harcourt, a pale blue floral muslin and chiffon ruffle, black chiffon hat; Miss E. Joseph, a white tucked silk and insertion gown, white chiffon toque; Miss Harding, cream skirt and satin blouse, straw hat with flowers: Miss H. Harding had a cream tucked voilo crown and broad cream hat wreathed with roses; Miss Edwin, a pale mauve foulard silk gown and large cream hat; also the Messrs Abbott, Butler, Cooper, Hadfield. Reid, Hodson, Maitland, Gore, Fitzherbert, Nelson, Sloman, Higginson, George, etc.

Mr Harry Rickards’ Vaudeville Company, in which the great Eugene Sandow is the leading feature, is attracting crowded houses every, night at the Opera House. The audience is each night worked up to a high pitch of enthusiasm over the marvellous feats of Sandow, and he is recalled time after time, only to add another example of his extraordinary strength to his countless wonders. The rest of the company also give much amusement. Mr and Mrs Sidney Drew are an accomplished couple, and their acting is capital. Among visitors to Wellington are Mrs Wardrop, of Christchurch, who is the guest of Mrs Tolhurst; Mrs L. Pharazyn, Featherston, staying with Miss Izard; and Miss Wilford, Wanganui, the guest of Airs Riddiford, Hutt.
