Dear Bee, October 16. The Cambridge Ladies’ Hoekey Club held a social in the Victoria Hall last night to elose their season. The weather was most unfavourable and kept all the country friends and some of the town ones away, but notwithstanding a most enjoyable evening was spent by those present. There must have been fully forty there. Mrs McCullagh and Mrs F. Gane, together with the other members of the club, received their guests and gave them all a warm welcome and saw that all present enjoyed themselves. Opportunity was taken of the occasion to present the coach of the team (Mr C. Stewart) with a. handsome dressing case. Mrs McCullagh made the presentation on behalf of the team. Mr Stewart thanked them, but could not make a speech. The whole company joined in singing “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.’’ The evening’s entertainment consisted of music, cards, all sorts of games, and ended up with a dance. Some of the dresses were: Mrs McCullagh, black dress relieved with white silk embroidery; Mrs F. Gane, black and heliotrope; Mrs J. Ferguson, black silk; Mrs James Hally, black silk, pink silk and lacft front; Miss Walker, white silk blouse, black skirt; Miss E. Walker, white silk blouse, crushed strawberry skirt; Miss Ferguson, ruby velveteen blouse, white lace collar, black skirt; Miss Peterson, black and white muslin blouse trimmed with bebe velvet, black skirt; Miss Hally, blue silk tucked blouse, black skirt; Miss J. Hally, blue silk blouse, black skirt; Miss McNeish, crushed strawberry blouse, black skirt; Miss Kingsford wore a very becoming heliotrope tucked silk blouse, black skirt; Miss Gibbonson looked remarkably well in pale blue satin blouse, laee fichu, and black skirt; Miss Keesing, very pretty yellow silk tucked blouse trimmed with white insertion; Miss Willis, navy blue velveteen bftmse, white silk fichu, black skirt; Miss C. Willis, dark brown velveteen dress, point lace collar; Miss Dickenson, black and white muslin blouse, black skirt; Miss H. Payze, white silk blouse, black skirt; Miss Kunciman, blue and white muslin blouse, black skirt; Miss Cave, heliotrope silk blouse covered with cream lace, black skirt; Miss Wells, Coronation red dress, black silk

strappings, string coloured lace collar; M iss Gedge, blue and white muslin blouse, black skirt; Miss Gwynneth, crimson silk blouse, cream lace fichu, black skirt; Miss Jefferies, white blouse, blaek skirt. Amongst the gentlemen present I noticed Messrs E. Clarke, N. Farnall, Madison, Stewart, Ferguson (3), Jefferies, Clark, MeNeish, Payze.
