NEW PLYMOUTH.
Dear Hee, — August 17, Great pains were taken by the committee to make the TOWN BAND BALL a success, but owing to the inclemency of the weather it was not so well crowded as was expected, although the management couldn't be surpassed, and great credit is due to Mrs. Paul and the ladies helping her for the efforts made to ensure the success of the ball. The supper table was extremely pretty decorated with daffodils, jonquils and violets, with a handsome epergne of acacia in the centre. The music was rendered by Garry's orchestra, who, 1 am sorry to say, will not be here much longer, as a better appointment is offered to Mr. Garry in Christchurch, greatly to the loss of the people of New Plymouth, as better music has never been heard.
