Dear Bee, August 13. A PROGRESSIVE EUCHRE PARTY was given by Mrs Percy Adams last Thursday evening at her residence “Melrose." which was much enjoyed by all present. .Mrs Booth was again the winner of Hie first ladies’ prize, and Mr Squires the gentlemen's, whilst Mrs Fulton (Collingwood) ami Air W. Hursthouse won the booby prizes. There were eleven tables, and play was kept iqi with great spirit until about eleven o'clock, after which an adjournment was made to the sup-per-room, where a most delicious supper was exquisitely laid out. The table decorations were lovely, the spring flowers looking bright and and pretty. There was also every delicacy in season for which one could possibly wish. pink moire, with transparent sleeves of rich white lace, the corsage was also finished with luce; Mrs Watts wore a handsome gown of black brocaded satin, lace cap; Miss Quick (Wellington), who is Mrs Adams’ guest, wore black satin, the decolletage finished with sapphire blue velvet, and real lace. Glasgow; Air and Mrs Kingdom the latter wearing black satin; Mr and Airs Jack Sharp; Dr. and Mrs Roberts, the hitter wearing a chic gown of forget-me-not blue finished with lace; Mr and Airs Fulton (Collingwood); Airs Stephens (the Port); Airs Young (Blenheim); Mrs Harris; Miss Blackett. black gown with sleeves of transparent net.; Miss Bunny; Miss Heaps, white silk: Miss Houlker; Miss Levien: Miss Leggatt; Miss Robertson: Miss Richmond: Messrs Percy Adams, N. Adams, A. Adams. Coney, Duncan, Heaps, Hursthouse. Levien, Muir, Squires, Hamilton, and others.

Miss Sybil Hunter-Brown, who left, for a trip to England on Friday, entertained a number of her friends on Wednesday at Miss Huddleston’s residence, “Maitai House." when all were glad to have that opportunity of wishing her bon voyage. Miss Aggie Bell had arranged to give an afternoon tea. for all Miss Hunter-Brown’s friends, but owing to the news that her brother, Mr R. Bell, of Madagascar, was seriously ill. the function was postponed. I am glad to say that Miss Bell has since heard by cable that her brother has recovered.
