We have had some very cold, wet weather, which has rather interfered with golf practice, and that is about the most interesting thing on hand just now in anticipation of the handsome prizes to be won. On Thursday evening at the Oddfellows’ Hall a MOST ENJOYABLE CONCERT was given by Miss Jennie West, late of Dunedin, and although a very wild, untempting night to m >ve from one’s own fireside, a numerous audience greeted Miss West’s appearance, and did not go away sorry for the effort they had made. Miss West looked remarkably well in white silk prettily trimmed with very fine lace, and silver aigrette in her hair; Miss Graham, in black silk ; and Miss C. Lingard, in black velvet ; Messrs F. M. Wallace and H M. Reeves kindly assisted Miss West. Among the audience were Judge and Mrs Denniston and daughter, Mrs and Miss Wilding. Mr and M s Etnbling. Mrs F.

M. Wallace, Judge Williams, Mrs Sinclair Thomson (Dunedin), Mr J. Gould, Mrs R. Macdonald, Mr and Mrs A Kaye, the latter in black velvet skirt and very handsome brocade blonse, black velvet cloak ; Mr and Mrs England, the latter wearing very handsome bronze plush cloak ; Miss I. Martin ; Mr ana Mrs G. Kettlewell, Mrs T. Garrard, Mrs Bruce ; Mrs Bourne, in a handsome black silk, the yoke of white veiled with sequin net ; Mr and Miss Alliger, Mr and Miss Harley, Miss J. Smith, Miss Fairhurst, Mr and Mrs Struthers, Mr Clarence Turner and his sister, Mr and Mrs E. Preece, Mr Graham Greenwood and Miss Manin, Mr and Mrs Cresswell, Mrs and Miss Marsden, Mrs Shanks, Miss Freeman. Miss Fodor, Messrs H. M.Lund, Hirschberg, F. Graham, G. Reeves, Van Asch, etc.

On the same evening Mrs E. T. Robinson gave a concert at the Art Gallery by her pupils, singing two songs very nicely herself. There was not a large audience, mostly parents and friends of the pupils. On Wednesday Mrs Duncan Cameron, Bishopscourt, gave a very pleasant luncheon party to some of her friends, amongst whom were Mrs Wason, Mrs Cowiishaw, Mrs Lascelles, Mrs Reeve, Mrs Cook, Mrs Palmer

and a few others.
