DUNEDIN.

Dear Bee, September 12. In my letter of last week I quite forgot to mention a small AFTERNOON TEA which Mr# Oat way gave for Mias Stephenson at her rooms in Wain # Hotel. The table was very prettily decorated with daffodils and yellow primroses. There was a great deal of charming music during the afternoon. Mrs Oat way herself performing several times. Some I remember pre*ent were Mias Stephenson. Miaees Tui and Kate Stephenson. Mis# Edmond*. Mias Maude Sise. Mias Robert*. Mias L Robert*. Mia* Cutten. Mias Scott, Mias Reynold*. Mi<« Gilkison. Mias E. Neill. Miss Farquhar, Mxsr MacLean. and a few married ladies. On Monday afternoon Mias Rachel Reynolds entertained a number of friends at AFTERNOON TEA for Mia* Miller (Oamarm who is paying a short visit to Dunedin. with pot hyacinths and jonquils. Mr* Denniston received the guest* in the drawingroom, while Mis# Reynolds and Mias F. I>enni*ton looked after the want* of the guest* in the tea-room. Rattray, white sniped siik blouse, black skirt; Mis* S. Rattray ; Miss Neill, blue striped silk blouse with vest of white silk covered with white chiffon, black velvet hat with pink flowers: Misses E Ulrich, Gibson. Bartieman. S. Bartleman. Williams, Stephenson. D. Neill, Macwssey. and many others. On Thursday evening Messrs George and Charlie Roberts gave a LARGE DANCE at * Littlebourne House' as a farewell ball to Dunedinites before Mr Charles leaves for England. Dancing commenced at half-past eight, and was kept up with great rerre until about two o'clock, when ‘Auld Lang Syne ' was sung, and the guests then dispersed after having enjoyed one of the best dances given this winter. Tnc bouse looked as pretty a* usual. There were on all the gas jets scarier shades, which produced a very effective light. Mr Yates officiated at the piano, arid extras were played by Misses S. Webster. E. Macas*ey. and Miss Miller fOamaru!. The supper - table was simply a mass of yellow jonquils and daffodils. In the centre of the of the table was a large silver tx>wi filled with the above mentioned flowers.
