Andrews, Fox. Grcensill, Scott, McShane, and Fell (three). A most recherchb supper was laid out in the hall, whence the party adjourned after the ceremony of awarding the prizes was over, the lucky winners being Miss Ethel Greensill, and Mr Andrews, for first prizes, and Miss Mirrie Philpotts and Master G. Fell, the boobies. On Thursday evening ANOTHER EUCHRE PARTY was given by Mrs and the Misses Philpotts at ' Aschain.’ the residence of the Mayor of Picton. the party comprising the Misses I 1- Se y m <>ur (three). Allen. Linton. Western (three). Greensill. Millington. Duncan, and Sealey (Nelson), and Messrs Fox. Green sill. Western. Baillie. Philpotts, etc. The first prizes were won by Misses N. Allen and F. Western—who played for an absent gentle man—and the boobies by and Mr W. Baillie, respectively. By way of a change a PICNIC to LAUGHING BOB’S BAY was initiated for Saturday, or rather I should say two picnics—one of grown-ups, and the other of ‘ atwixt an’ atweens.’ As both were bound for the same place, they agreed to amalgamate. Some consternation and much fun arose when it was found that there were no matches, and a party had to set out in a boat to waylay passers-by on the Sound for a supply. That difficulty being overcome, it was next found that there was only one * billy ’ wherein to boil water for nearly sixty people—great and small — so we had to have tea turn about, and then it begnn to thunder and threaten a 'southerly buster.’ so the timid flew to the boats, leaving only a brave few to weather the storm, which fortunately passed away. Dr. and Mrs Millington had charge of the younger portion, and so were anxious about the weather. The‘ grownups’ were Mrs Allen. Mrs H. C. Seymour, the Misses Seymour (four), Millington, Philpotts. Allen (two). Western (two). Greensill, Linton, and the younger ones Misses Webster, Miles (two). Fuller Allen (two), Seymour. Greensill (three). Philpotts (three). Fell. Price, Sealey (two), and Messrs Fox. Goodwin. Scott, S. C. Allen,

W. Baillie. J. Greensill, Henderson. Dr. Millington, and Masters McShane. Sealey. Fisk. Western, etc., etc. The ruling passion being evidently euchre parties, a sort of SURPRISE EUCHRK PARTY, which yet was not all a surprise, visited ‘Cam House.’the residence of Mr and Mrs H. C. Seymour, on Monday evening. The affair was a great success, about thirty people in all arriving at the rendezvous in time for a long evening’s fun. The first prizes were won by Misa Ethel Greensill and Mr J. Greens ill. and the boobies by Miss Nellie Allen and Mr C, Philpotts. Play was kept going merrily till 1.30 a.m. with an adjournment for supper at 11 P.m. Those present were Mr and Mrs H. C. Seymour. Miss Mary Seymour; Miss K. Seymour, in a cardinal silk striped skirt and cream muslin blouse; Miss Isabel Seymour and Miss Ethel Seymour. Mr and Mrs Rutherford, the latter wearing some beautiful cream silk Maltese lace as trills. and peh rine; Mrs Allen, the Misses Nora and Nellie Allen. Miss E Linton. Miss Spe«d. Miss Mcßae (Nelson* in red skirt and cream muslin bionse. with a pretty spray of may berries; Hiss Fell, red skirt and white blouse; Miss M. Fell, pale blue; Miss Sophie Philpotts, Miss M. Philpotts, Miss Scott, Miss Ethel Greensill. Miss White. Misses F. and E. Western, and Messrs Fox. Carey (Blenheim), Western. White, Philpotts, M. and J. Greensill, W. and T. Bai die.

PERSONAL. Mr Gudgeon, who has been to Wellington to consult Dr. Collins on his < ase is to go under an operation to-morrow in the Blenheim Hospital. Dr. Collins having so advised. The doctors think there is a chance if the operation is performed at once, and so for the sake of his wife and Htt-e family Mr Gudgeon is willing to run the risk. The case anyway is a very sad one. Mrs Hudalcstone. of Blenheim. Mrs Gudgeon's sister, is staying in Picton to help the family. Mr Cyril Gudgeon, of Queenstown, being unable to leave his duties in the bank there for more than a few days.
