MURCHISON.

Dear Bee, October 23. THE MURCHISON TENNIS CLUB opened the court about a month ago. Since then some few games have been played, but owing to the bad weather tennis has been impossible for this past week. The other afternoon I noticed a good many visitors on the lawn. The players also assembled very well, there being present Misses O’Rourke, Keene, Watson, McNee, Rait, Downie and Roberts, Messrs Morel, McNee. Rait, Kerr, Huddleston, Russell. Roberts and Watson. THE ANNUAL ASSEMBLY BALL proved a great success. The hall was prettily decorated with ferns and an abundance of wild flowers. The music was rendered by Messrs Roberts, Inward, and Goodyer. Mr J. Rait performed his duty as M.C. admirably. The few ladies’ dresses that I remem bered were very pretty. I heard it commented by some of the ladies that Miss Roberts, who was attired in ruby velvet and white satin, was the belle. Miss O’Rourke looked well in black velvet trimmed with red satin ; Miss Watson, pale blue; Miss Downie, black and sea-green ; Miss A. Downie. pink and cream ; Miss McNee, white lace vest, cream gown; Miss L. McNee, white dress pink trimmings; Miss T. McNee, blue: Miss Rait, pink; Miss Keene, blue silk trimmed with white silk nnd lace ; Miss Lynch, black watered satin ; Miss Bageant, pink net. The ladies of Murchison, both young and old. take great interest in IHE COMING ELECTION. There are three candidates for the Inangahua (-onst.itucnry. and the one that gains the ladies’ favour st ands a good chance of being returned. Jack.
