WOMAN'S DRESS ‘COMING’ OR UNBE-COMING.
What is this latest fashion of the day ? What mean these ladies by their strange array ? Divided skirts ! Nay, call a spade a spade : These are but trousers rather badly made.
Ye advocate of women’s rights, give ear, Lest, seeking freedom, you provoke a sneer ; The right of woman is to rule her lord, And draw him by her beauty's silken cord.
By pretty blandishments and witcheiies, She leads him captive through the centuries, And, ruling man the lord of all the rest, Is sovereign mistress of the world confest.
But when his mistress thus foigets her sex, And fain his manly garments would annex, He follows suit politely, and at length Forgets her beauty’s claim, but not his strength. Her day is o’er, depose her from the throne ; Henceforth her sovereign master reigns alone.
