SMART EVENING TOILETTES.

Description of Plate No. 11. (See Fashion Plate.)

Exceedingly tasteful and novel in design are the handsome home dinner-gowns or theatre toilettes and the graceful tea-gown which our artist has this week selected as the subjects of the sketches. These charming and thoroughly Parisian toilettes represent some of the latest and smartest novelties. No. 1 is a very lovely gown of pale grey brocade, used m combination with grey velvet in a darker shade and a most exquisite trimming of grey silk passementerie. One half of the bodice is of brocade, and the other half of passementerie, the latter being bordered by a handsome fringe. The front of the skirt is of grey velvet ornamented with vandyke points of passementerie, while the sides of the skirt are draped with long panels of brocade. No. 2is an exceedingly handsome gown with an Incroy - able bodice and a redingote back of rich brocade, the design of which is exceptionally beautiful. Long panels of brocade drape the skirt, and are gathered in, near the hem, with choux bows of black velvet. The front of the skirt is entirely of black velvet. The fully-pufted half-sleeves are of brocade, while the bodice is slightly open in front, in the manner shown in the sketch. No. 3 is one of the most becoming designs among the new tea-gowns of the present season. It is made in a lovely shade of crimson moire, draped throughout with the finest possible black Chantilly lace. The front is also of crimson moire, gracefully caught up here and there, and tied in at the waist with long bows and ends of crimson moire ribbon. The high collar is very prettily cut, and covered with black Chantilly lace to correspond. In black lace over white, or over heliotrope, this gown will be found equally effective, while pongee, surah, or faille can easily be used in place of the moire, if preferred.
