OPENING OF LEWISHAM HOSPITAL
The new 1 tospital recent!)' creeled at Newtown for a Private Hospital l)v the "I Hue Sisters," who come from the Lewisham Hospital, Sydne)% was formal!) opened by the Governor-General on August 18th. *
The building which is built on modern lines and provides 60 beds, is very beautifully furnished and equipped, cost £50,000.
'["lie matron is Mother Bernard, who recently arrived from Sydney, accompanied by 10 Sisters who were trained at the Lewisham Hospital, Sydney, which is a General Hospital, with private wing attached. The hospital m Wellington is on the same lines as the Lewisham Hospital m Christchurch, and is for private patients, though there are wards follower tees lor those who cannot afford full fees.
The hospital is under the Roman Catholic Church, but is undenominational for patients.
