Ashburn Hall ESTABLISHED 1882 AD* T T -if A rrivate Hospital ror the Care and Treatment of Mental and Nervous Disorders ASHBURN HALL is an old-established licensed hospital, situated m beautiful country within three miles of the Town Hall, Dunedin, and offers every advantage that experience can suggest for the care, comfort and treatment of Voluntary Hoarders suffering from incipient nervous and mental disorders, as well as certified patients of both sexes. ASHBURN HALL has 66 bedrooms, and about 130 acres of grounds, part of which is laid out m pleasant lawns, flower gardens, and walks, and a considerable area is m native bush. In addition, there are home and poultry farms. It has also an excellent private nine-hole golf course, tennis and croquet lawns, bowling green, wireless, and full-sized billiard table. Ladies and gentlemen have their own gardens, and attend special classes m gardening; and facilities are provided for handicrafts, such as carpentry, pewter- work, basket-work, etc. Motor outings and theatre parties are arranged, and also short holidays at the seaside. ANNUAL REPORTS of the Director-General of Mental Hospitals:— \ (1) Sir Truby King (Final Report. 22nd August, 1927): i "A remarkably favourable institution for the care and treatment } of cases of incipient and confirmed mental breakdown. No pains i are spared to induce patients to occupy themselves congenially out of doors — m the garden and elsewhere." (2) Dr. T. Gray (First Report, 15th April. 1929) : "The whole institution presented a bright and cheerful appearance under capable, earnest, and whole-hearted direction. Adequate arrangements are made for consultation with outside physicians and surgeons when desirable." TERMS: (a) Ordinary Terms: £5/5/- a week ; but the charge ranges From £4/4/- to £6/6/- a week m accordance with the nature of the case and the attention and accommodation required.
