Memorial Chapel, Christchurch Hospital
A street collection was held m May to gather funds for the long-contem-plated chapel m the hospital.
The project was started some years before the war by Miss Thurston, but lapsed then owing to the large collection for the Children's Ward m the Hospital. Ward m the Hospital.
Nurse Maude also was actively interested.
However, when the Marquette disaster occurred, the time seemed opportune to again bring it forward, and at the
conclusion of the Memorial Service at St. Michael's Church a collection was taken up as a nucleus for the fund. Shortly after Miss Thurston left on active service, asking her friends to carry on.
So far the Chapel has not been an accomplished fact, but circulars sent out to old nurses by Miss Muir, the present Matron, and the street collection have again revived the idea, and it is likely the Christchurch nurses will shortly have their Memorial Chapel.
