The Auckland Ex-service Women's Association
Notice of Recent Activities
On Poppy Day, 23rd April, we had our little stall m Queen Street, and although most of our members are engaged m various occupations m the city, I was able to get 21 members at different times during the day to give their services.
The heavy rain m the afternoon kept many of our usual customers m their homes, so our collection this year was not quite £50. The Returned Soldiers' Association was quite pleased with our small effort.
Saturday, April 24th: Eighteen of our members took afternoon tea, cigarettes, etc., to the returned T.B. soldiers m the Hospital Annexe. Two of our
members, Miss Gibbons and Grewe, arranged a very nice programme of music, monologues and songs. The patients were very grateful and enjoyed every minute of it. I am enclosing the cutting from the Auckland " Herald," from which you might like to extract notes. April 25th, Anzac Day: Forty-five of us were present at the Anzac Service m the Town Hall. This year our Association was on the official list of those who placed wreaths on the Cenotaph. On April 28th, an "Anzac Dinner" at the Central Hotel was attended by 30 members.
