The house was burglarously entered, and Mr Reade offers a reward of £2O for the discovery of the offender.

Identifiable. A doubtful case, the driver of the waggon, Thomas White, being the worse for liquor the same evening.

JonN Baneill, French, 35 years, sft. 4in., rather stout build, dark complexion, dark whiskers, beard and moustache, grey eyes, has been a sailor, and has bust of a female tattooed ou, his right arm, dressed in dark blue coat, dirty tweed trousers, and light brown slouched felt hat, is charged on warrant, filed in Commissioner’s office, with deserting his wife, Catherine infill, at Christchurch, on the 19th ultimo. This offender came originally from the West Coast, and is known to the Police there. Vide Canterbury Police Gazette, 1875, page 51 and 113.
